What You Should Do After the Operation?

Eyelids have a very delicate texture, thus will be affected quickly by external factors such as gravity and aging, which in turn will change the expression of the face towards a more tired and aged look.

Upper eyelids and lower eyelids both may wrinkle at a very young age due to regular make up applications or too much sun exposure. Pouches protrude over the years and contribute equally to a more tired look.

Blepharoplasty can either be performed separately to the upper or lower eyelid aesthetics, or both. With the operation, the excess skin and fat tissues are removed from the eyelids. The tissues that hold the muscles to the skin are strengthened and thus a more beautiful and young appearance is provided.

Blepharoplasty operations can be performed under local anesthesia. If the scope of the operation foreseen is wider, it also can be performed under general anesthesia.

If the patient undergoes only blepharoplasty under local anesthesia, they are released the same day. If performed under general anesthesia we host our guest for one night at the hospital. Patients may return to work 3 to 6 days after the operation.

What is the Eyelid Aesthetics Recovery Process?

The scars resulting from these procedures can be hidden within the natural line structures on the eyelid. Patients should avoid excessive movements and strenuous activities during the recovery phase after the operation. The healing process takes between 10 and 14 days. This period may vary depending on the patient's condition. In some patients, recovery times after eyelid surgery may take up to a month. Bruising may occur in patients after these operations. This situation can be described as a temporary situation. As the bruising and mild pain disappear, the effects of the operation become apparent. Patients can apply cold press and use ointment with the doctor's advice during the healing process. It is not appropriate for patients to be exposed to direct sunlight during the recovery phase. Patients should use black sunglasses whenever possible.

What Should Be Considered Before Eyelid Aesthetics?

Patients should have the necessary tests and examinations before blepharoplasty procedures. In this way, the appropriate treatment method for the patient is determined. Patients should stop using blood thinners, especially aspirin and antibiotics, at least two weeks before the operation. These medications pose a risk because they may increase bleeding during the operation.Before the operation, patients should share their medical history and the medications they use, if any, with their doctors. In addition, smoking or alcohol use will prolong the patient's recovery time, so these habits should be stopped before the operation.Herbal ingredients such as vitamin pills or green tea should also be discontinued before the operation.
